Weaving advent calendar - Warm hues
UK postal addresses order deadline: 18th of November, 2020
Non-UK postal addresses: no longer available for order, sorry!
Want to count down to Christmas and enjoy creative weaving with beautiful naturally dyed British wool yarn and roving?
This advent calendar contains 150g of fibre (incl. warp thread, yarn, and roving) distributed over 25 days. Most days will contain 5g of yarn, with some days containing a little more, or 10g of roving. 150g of wool should be more than enough for a 25 x 30 cm wall hanging, giving you flexibility with your creation. You could also make two smaller wall-hangings.
The warp thread is undyed French linen.
The weft yarn comes in a variety of weights (thicknesses) and will all follow a coral/pink and neutrals colour scheme, making it easy for you to create a harmonious finished piece. All weft wool is sourced, spun, and dyed in the UK.
All my yarns are non-superwash (meaning that unlike a lot of yarns, they haven't been treated with bleach and synthetic resin to make them felt-resistant). Wash in cold, pH-neutral soap. Dry away from direct sunlight. Store / hand away from direct sunlight.
You can choose to receive the fibre with or without my wooden advent calendar, designed by me and laser cut in Bristol about away from me. It comes flat-packed - please watch my YouTube tutorial to put it together. It can then be disassembled after Christmas for use year after year.
You can also choose whether to receive the fibre unwrapped or wrapped in tissue paper with a day sticker on, so that you can create your own advent calendar by hanging the labelled, wrapped bundles of yarn on a piece of rope, for example.
I'll be releasing videos on YouTube and Instagram throughout the advent period to help you learn, be creative, and make a stunning design with this advent calendar (or yarn you already own). Please follow me on Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube (@ro.dyeworks on all of those) to be alerted when the videos go live. Please note that this does not come with written instructions.
You can buy a small or large loom to go with this, as well as weaving needles - all listed here.
